SLJ – Legs Legs Legs? – Kick Start

LI: Mosha wants a new leg!

For this Summer Learning Journey Task, We were challenged to redesign Mosha’s Prosmetic leg. designed her leg as baby elephants and colored it blue with the band a darker blue, I choose this because its her miniture self. One thing I enjoyed about this task is that I got the chance to design Mosha prosmetic leg. One thing I would say relating from this task is that its okay to be  different from others, that just makes you more unique than others!.

SLJ – Art in the Web – Step it up

For the Summer Learning Journey Step it up activity, I was challenged to get creative and break out those scissors to do some more challenging crafting. For this step up activity, we would need paper, and some toilet rolls. I watched a video on “how to” to help us learn to cut the toilet rolls to create little spiders and paper to cut out spiderwebs. We also watched an article video called SpiderWebs Artists at Work. After we finished doing all of the activity, we had a go on playing the Summer Learning Journey SpiderWeb Quiz game. Something I learned in the video is that spiderwebs are tricky as their designs are difficult. An activity I found hard was trying to cut out the spiderwebs because there were lots of layers but turned out cool!

Have you ever touched a tricky spiderweb before?

SLJ – Art in Web – Kick start

For this Summer Learning Journey Activity, I watched a tutorial on how to draw a spider web. This activity really intrigued me because if you didn’t do the right steps I’ll turn out wonky, so I followed the steps in order to make my web. I firstly grabbed a paper and pencil to sketch it out. After I finished I took a photo and put it on my blog, explaining what I did. I enjoyed this task because I got to learn about the art of web.

Duffys party hat

For Duffys birthday we had to create a birthday party hat to celebrate Duffys birthday. First you need paper (your color choice). I choose red because that was the first color that came to my brain. Then I cut out some triangles from my paper then I glued it together then I designed it and I wrote Happy Bday Duffy and I also wrote some parts of the song. Then I colored it and then added some stars that had a D in the middle because it stands for Duffys name and lastly I added a bit of sparkles which was the left over glitter that my class used.

I found this task interesting because I got to create my own party hat that I created.

Duffy library book box

For this task the whole school had to create Duffy library book box to put the books that we recieved from Duffy to take home. This is because most people have nowhere to put their Duffy books. We all had to design our boxes with our cultural patterns or we could have choosen zentangle patterns. I choose to do cultural patterns because it meant a lot to my culture. What I needed to design my Duffy library book box was a pencil to sketch and a ruler to make a square or lines and lastly a vivid to go over the sketch with what we sketched. Before we started all of these steps our teachers Mrs Anderson and Mrs Fisiahi gave us a plain white box that we had to build.

What I enjoyed from doing this task was designing my box with my cultral design and I got to create my box with my friends.

Tivaevae design

On cook island language week we were challenged to make a tivaevae Design to celebrate cook island language week. To create a tivaevae design I had to do some researching about tivaevae designs and I saw so many colors and different types of flowers and leaves. I was thinking of what colors to do but I decided to do gradient and keep the colors as nature as possible

I found this activity interesting because I got to learn what a tivaevae design are and why is important to cook islanders, I also learnt some facts about the tivaevae design like Did you know that designs can include geometric shapes, flowers and animal designs.

Taniwha Name’s

LI: To understand the Treaty of Waitangi.

LI: Understand how culture connects with your name

For this task, I did  My Taniwha Name, we had to be creative and add our names blending it in with the Taniwha. we had to think of ideas for our Taniwha and think of  a colour .The colour I choose was  green because that’s the colour of a real Taniwha and its my favourite colour. We also added some patterns and designs.
