Howick historical villiage

LI : To make a collage about the Howick Historical Village.

For this activity we went on s trip to the Howick Historical Village as a group with LS1. We were assorted in groups, I was in group 3. We went to the first activities which was Butter Making. while mixing the butter we sang a quote which was “churn butter churn, (Someone’s Name) waiting at the gate, waiting for some butter cake churn butter churn.

I found this  activity really intrestting because i go tto learn how to make butter with just cream.

Nutrition

LI: using your new knowledge and your smart searching skills.

For this task me and my partner had to make DLO of why you have to eat healthy. We learnt about  portion sizes. Fruits, vegetables, grain, dairy, and protein are important in this topic. For example, vegetables are important because they contain fibre. Fibre is important for our body because fibre keeps the digestive system healthy and well. Fruits contain vitamins that are needed for our body. Dairy contains something called calcium. Calcium maintains and strengthens strong and healthy bones.

I found this activity interesting because I got to make a DLO about food portions. One fact I learnt is that you should be drinking 8+ cups of water a day.

Awareness poster- AUT Millennium

LI :using your new knowledge and your smart searching skills.

We went to the AUT  Millennium training centre, We learnt about water safety and I got to learn what a huddle posture is. A huddle posture is when all of the people huddle in there water and you put the eldest oor the yougest or the most hurt person in the middle you put your feet  all together in the middle. The other thing I learnt to help you in the water was the chain. To do a chain, a group of people have to go into a line. The order of the line matters. The person at the back must be the strongest swimmer and the person in the front has to be the injured or the weakest. You would have to hug your chest to keep your organs warm and to prevent hypothermia.

I found this really interesting because I got to learn about water safety and how to be safe in the wild.

Howick Historical Village

I found this task really  intresting because i got to learn how to make butter with just cream. i enjoyed all the activity we did at  the Howick historical village.

Water Animation

LI :using your new knowledge and your smart searching skills.

We went on a trip to the AUT Millennium and learnt different ways on how to stay safe in the water. We were divided in Groups of 4. Group 1 and 2 were combained into one Group.I was in Group 2, Group 3 and 4 were doing rock climbing and team builting. Group 2 had to learn water safety first while group 1 was kayaking. I enjoyed this activity because I got to learn things that  can help me survive in the wild

3D shapes

For this task we looked at 3D shapes, 3D shapes are shapes that have 3 Dimensions, length, width, and height. The properties of 3D shapes are how many faces, vertices (corners), and edges there are. For this activity we had to find everyday items that are in the shape of any 3D shape we chose, and to name the shape’s properties. We did a Cylinder as a pringles can, a sphere as a soccer ball, a cuboid as an eraser, a cube as an ice cube, a hemisphere as a bowl, and lastly, we did a rectangular prism as a book. A cuboid and a rectangular prism are the same thing.

I found this task interesting because I learnt about 3D shapes and I got to learn the Dimensions and the properties of a shape.

Haiku Poem – Fire

The structure of a Haiku poem is 5 syllables, 7 syllables, and 5 syllables. Syllables are chunks of a word. We had to choose between Fire, Ice, and Water. We came up with words that related with fire, and used some of them into a verse. With the syllable rule, making this Haiku poem was difficult.

I found this task interesting because I got to create my own Haiku poem.

Haiku Poem – Maungarei

The structure of a Haiku poem is 5 syllables, 7 syllables, and 5 syllables. Syllables are chunks of a word. We got to chose our own Topic so we chose Maungarei. Before writing this poem, we did Moment in Time poems about Maungarei, and we had a trip up Maungarei. So we had plenty of ideas and information. This activity was challenging because it limited the amount of words. But I like having a bit of a challenge.

I found this task interesting because I got to learn about Maungarei.

3D Shapes – Strand

L.I: How 2D and 3D shapes are defined.

3D shapes are shapes that have 3 dimensions, length, width, and height. Properties of shapes are what the shapes own, or the shapes’s features. Like faces, edges, and vertices (corners). Properties of a cube could be 6 faces, 8 vertices (corners), and 12 edges. For this activity we drew 3D shapes in our math books, and wrote its properties.

This activity was interesting because I learnt the properties of a few 3D shapes.

2D shapes

LI:

2D shapes are shapes that only have two dimensions, length and width. We learnt what vertices and edges are. For example, a square has 4 sides and 4 vertices. Vertices can also be called corners. Properties in this topic means what the shape owns. We drew 2D shapes in our math book and named the properties of each shape.

I enjoyed doing this activity because I learnt what the propeties are in 2D shapes.
