LI : To identify the key historical context and events related to the Polynesian Panthers and the Dawn Raids as depicted in the graphic novel.
For reading we were given a text to read about and during reading we were challenged to create a DLO as a group explaining what happened to the polynesian people during the dawn raids. during the dawn raids people were affected getting escorted by homes for not having proof that they can stay in New Zealand. Then after reading the text we were challenged to create a DLO (Provocation) about what happened during the dawn raids,explaing if the government of today ( 2021 ) apoligise for the mishaps of the government (1969). During this task we had a lot of reasons why and why they shouldn’t of had done this, but finally we all came to the conclusion of agreeing on why they should of apoligised because without the confirmation of their wrong doings, the next generation will probably carry on the generational trauma. Something I found interesting after reading about the shameful stain that the goverment from 1971 put onto New Zealand but Jacinda ardern apologized for the actions the goverment from 1970s did.
